hey thats not to bad, but where did you find hills in florida on I-75???
looks like you came out ahead on fuel costs
where those flying J's at midway and shrevport

Florida was nothing but rolling hills on both 10 and 75. Not huge hills but it isn't flat like everyone was telling me it was.
Midway was the only Flying J we hit. In Shreveport it was a Petro.
Yeah we did pretty good on fuel. I was expecting at least $1500 for the trip so we did a bit better than that. And almost 12mpg average I thought was great. Our average speed was right at 60mph.

OMG
i couldnt have driven to florida at 60, i bet you got passssed alot in la and miss going that slow.
we tow at 70 ish and get 12-13
but still you got great mpg and came home with all your hands and toes
i never used the petro in shreveport,
cracks me up they all the la fuel stops have casinos in em now

average was 60 after hitting the hills and slowing down on them sometimes to close to 55. we tried to keep it around 63 or 64 and yeah we got passed a lot but there really wasn't a whole lot of traffic. if I could get 12-13 towing at 70 I would but anything over about 67 and the milage goes into the toilet. I've gotten as low as 8 towing just over 70 and that extra 3+mpg can get a truck a long ways on 38 gallons of gogo juice. keeping the speed down allowed us to get from Ocean Springs, Ms. to Shreveport, La. on 35 gallons. had I been going faster I'd have had to stop sooner and there just isn't a whole lot of places on 49 to stop.
yeah you're right about the casinos EVERY truck stop and roadside inn has one LOL!!

I did the same thing, kept records of our trip to Myrtle Beach so I could share but for some reason all my data ended up in the trash. You did better then I did as far as gas mileage, I average 9.7 miles to the gallon round trip with a total of 1,300 miles and at a cost for fuel @ $505.00. The highest price payed for gas was $409.00 a gallon and that was in VA. By the way nice record keeping.

I'm one of those nut jobs that keeps records. I'm also the PITA that tops off the diesel till it hits the top of the fill tube. After the auto shutoff I can squeeze in another 4 gallons of gogo juice, it just takes awhile. And I can go a long ways on 4 gallons. It could make the difference between making it to the next fuel stop.
One of the things I noticed is my odometer and GPS don't match exactly. The GPS is ahead by right at 5 miles to 400 on the odometer. The numbers are from the odometer, if I used the GPS numbers the mileage would be a schosh better. The GPS is probably the more accurate of the two.

Yep, I would go with the GPS. BTW: The speed it displays is also far more accurate than your speedometer.

yep i use my gps to plot real ground speed
although sometimes a teh end it will tell me my fastest speed was 100 ???
but the miles travled and speed is always imo dead on accurate
i use it to plot next fuel and 99% of th etime it gets me there with just fuel to spare
i have done a "i can beat the fuel gauge " a few times by using the miles to splash on the gps and i can telll you its gotten close, i have 39 gal tank and have squeezed to the neck 46, so she was EMPTY
